That's why we've created the New Teacher Challenge — to help you navigate those early pitfalls and set you up for success.
Over five days, you'll learn essential strategies to engage your students and reduce teacher burnout. Whether you're looking for guidance or just need a quick refresher, this challenge will provide the tools and support you need to thrive. Join us and transform your teaching journey!

Day 1: Mindset of a New Teacher
Burnout is real! In this session you will walk away with strategies to help you take care of yourself so that you can take care of your students.
Day 2: Culture and Climate
Students need to be in a positive environment where they feel empowered, safe, and secure. In this session, you will learn strategies to create a positive classroom climate that fosters academic, social, and emotional growth.
Day 3: Student Engagement, Protocols, Structures, and Routines
Student engagement is the key that binds all aspects of student learning and growth. Not only does student engagement make teaching itself more fun, and rewarding, but it has been shown to have critical impacts on student achievement. In this session, you will walk away with a toolkit of strategies that support an engaged classroom.
Day 4: Behavior Management
Kids don’t learn from people they don’t like! And when they don’t like you, they won’t respect you and act up, making your classroom difficult to maintain, thus reducing instructional time. In this session, you will walk away with behavior management tips that will help you develop a well-behaved classroom that is respectful and ready to learn.
Day 5: Classroom Set-Up
In this session, you'll learn how to organize your classroom to create a student-centered environment that students will enjoy. We'll provide practical tips and strategies to help you set up a collaborative and engaging space.

Stephanie Logan brings over two decades of diverse experience to her roles in education, serving as an educator, Associate Principal, Educational Consultant, and Instructional Designer. Throughout her career, Stephanie has demonstrated a keen ability to evaluate processes and develop strategic plans for sustainable success for schools. Working alongside teachers and administrators, she coaches teachers on best practices, strategies, and bringing life into their curriculum. Stephanie’s leadership style is marked by innovation and a commitment to student success. Inspired by the teachings of her mentor, Dr. Marva Collins, she embraces "unorthodox" teaching methods, including student exposure to complex texts, critical questioning, and high teaching expectations. This approach has proven effective in moving schools towards sustainability and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.With her extensive background and track record of success, she excels in implementing strategies for Strategic and Priority schools. Her ability to set strategic direction, facilitate partnerships, coach, and drive implementation of performance-enhancing solutions makes her a highly sought-after leader in the field of education.
With over 12 years of experience in early childhood education, Kim Spence brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the New Teacher Challenge. Kim began her career in sales and marketing before pursuing her passion for education, earning a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education. She spent over a decade teaching kindergarten, first, and second grades, where she honed her skills in fostering young learners' development.Transitioning from the classroom to a literacy consultant, Kim partnered with school districts across the United States, particularly in the Northeast. In this role, she delivered impactful professional development to K-5 teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators. Her training sessions covered essential topics such as curriculum implementation, student engagement, and small group instruction. Kim also provided one-on-one coaching and collaborated with district superintendents to craft effective ELA goals for both students and teachers.
